| Bill is the founder of global patent strategies pllc. His practice is focused on helping clients to manage intellectual property. He is currently at work on a book on the management of intellectual property (IP) assets and has published numerous articles in this area. Bill works closely with his clients to develop and execute strategies to help them manage and leverage their IP assets, including:
• Developing and implementing intellectual property strategies to align IP resource allocation with business strategy
• Understand and develop strategies for achieving international protection
• Facilitating multidisciplinary IP management teams for developing strategy and making key decisions
• Implementing processes for identifying, documenting, and protecting intellectual assets
• Implementing processes for identifying and managing infringement risks
• Developing and implementing IP policies, such as policies for managing confidential information, trade secrets, transfer of proprietary materials, maintenance of laboratory notebook, and publications
• Educating executives, managers and inventors about IP issues
• Implementing intellectual property knowledge management programs
Prior to founding global patent strategies pllc, Bill practiced patent law with Moore & Van Allen, PLLC, and was formerly Senior Director and Legal Counsel for Nobex Corporation, a drug discovery company in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. Bill also worked with ipCapital Group, an intellectual property consulting firm, and he started is IP career in the patent department of GlaxoSmithKline Inc. Bill’s clients have included companies and universities in a wide variety of technology areas, such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, diagnostics, analytical instruments, optics, and computer software. He graduated from Wake Forest University School of Law, J.D. 1997, and the University of North Carolina, Asheville, B.A. Biology, 1994.
